Festival Theater of Responsibility 2019 (30.09 – 06.10)

On the last day of September begins the third edition of the Theater of Responsibility Festival. This year once again, our guests are some of the leading, independent Bulgarian theater companies.

Continuing the tradition of the previous editions, the events will take place at different locations in Plovdiv. Four performances, an outdoor arthouse video installation, a concert, a working meeting/discussion are all part of the program that anyone can get involved with. The opening of the festival is taking place at the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv with the performance “Goodbye, Johann Reis!” by the Vox Populi Documentary Studio. After the show, the festival program continues with an opening party at Bee Bop Café, where you can enjoy a special vinyl selection from Nearly Dog.

There will also be two premieres during the festival. For the first time, you will be able to watch "On the Island" from Body Graphics and the NGO Theater of Responsibility. The mono spectacle “Death is not the end” by the Replica Theater, or more precisely by Milena Ermenkova, will also be shown for the first time as part of the programme.

The festival is of a different theatrical nature and relies on new performances from the field of documentary and socially engaged theater, which have not been shown on the Plovdiv stage so far. The topics that will be raised this year are diverse and important to contemporary society. How are digital technologies changing our way of communication? What sort of communicational problems manifest in the family and how can they be solved? Where in the mind of a person is the history of his city, does a person know it, does one remember it? These and dozens more topics and questions are part of the challenge that will be addressed by the artists involved in the festival programme.

This event is organized by NGO Theater of responsibility with the support of the State Puppet Theater - Plovdiv, National High School of Stage and Film Design and Bee Bop Café, in whose premises the events of the program will mainly take place.

Anyone who wants to attend the events can view the program here or visit the event page for more information and details about the performances and the accompanying program: https://www.facebook.com/events/405055276659921/
