Reflections is produced within the ADATA artist-in-residence program of Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019 and the PLANTS AiR - artist-in-residence programme of Novi Sad 2021 - European Capital of Culture.
Ivana Mali Vukelic is a visual artist from Novi Sad, Serbia.
For a month in October and November 2019 she lives in Plovdiv, exploring the city and its river.
On October 31, she invites the locals to present her art project, created specifically for Plovdiv during her artistic residency.
The installation "Reflections" comments on our attitude to the river and ourselves. It includes found materials collected from the river banks of Maritsa, with which is build the frame of the mirror, placed by the artist by the river with an invitation to look at our present.
Ivana Mali Vukelić was born in Novi Sad on 1 November 1979. Graduated at the art department- graphic, at the Art Academy in Novi Sad. She is a member of the Artists Association of Vojvodina, also she teaches art in workshops for children and adults. Work as art teacher in Private elementary school Tvrdjava, Petrovaradin and Project developer, coordinator of Art projects Inside art – aimed at patient suffering from addictions.
Besides art pedagogy she does drawing, painting, photography, applied art and explores the art expression in general. As a way of expressing herself she mostly uses drawing as it is the oldest technique. Inspired by nature and her surroundings she shapes her ideas through drawing and visual art.
She exhibited at group exhibitions since 2002, in Serbia and abroad. She made some individual exhibitions and many collective.
From the end of July 2019 to the beginning of November the riverside areas in Plovdiv will be an epicenter for the realization of artistic interventions in the urban environment. The projects were selected on the basis of the proposals received from the artists who participated in the ADATA AiR programme in 2018. Their proposals were developed as a result of artistic residences in Plovdiv supported by Plovdiv 2019 Foundation in the first stage of the programme.

The artist-in-residence programme ADATA AiR is focusing the urban landscape of the city of Plovdiv as part of the ECOC programme. ADATA AiR is a production of Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, realized in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Bulgaria and the Polish Institute in Sofia.
