Series of events on occasion оf May 24th
May 23 – June 10
Plovdiv is the first Bulgarian city in the family of European capitals of culture using Cyrillic alphabet. Cyrillic, which connects us together but also distinguishes us, expresses our individuality.
Cyrilisation is a key project of the “Plovdiv 2019” program. Initiatives such as the European Capital of Culture give us the opportunity to present the Bulgarian Cyrillic to Europe and the world. This year, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and the Slavonic Alphabet is special for us because we celebrate #10 years together since Bulgaria joined the European Union and the use of Bulgarian language as official in the EU.
The events are organized jointly with National Academy of Art, Sofia, House of Culture Boris Hristov, Plovdiv Artists Association.
The exhibitions are part of the events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Vassil Dimitrov Yonchev – teacher, artist, theoretician and founder of the Bulgarian art school and the 120th anniversary of the National Academy of Art
