Sogetsu Ikebana Art presents the Japanese art Ikebana in Bulgaria with an exhibition featuring artist compositions by Bulgarian and Japanese artists and a workshop in which you will be able to create an Ikebana. The project promotes the art of flower arrangement, related to the principles of harmony, grace and proportion.

Exhibition "Sogetsu Ikebana Art" (16 May 2019 - 19 May 2019) the purpose of the exhibition is to present the art of ikebana to a wide audience in the city of Plovdiv. It will consist of two large unique installations of Japanese Ikebanists and smaller art icons by Bulgarian Ikebanists. The exhibition will be opened with the demonstration of a Japanese Ikebanist.

Official guests of the event are Eikou Sumura and Yuka Ohkubo - prominent Japanese ikebana makers. On the Bulgarian side will participate Ikebanists from Sogetsu Sofia Study Group and Miracle Ikebana.

The exhibition will be officially opened on May 16 at 18:00 with an ikebana demonstration from Eikou Sumura.

Free entry. The demonstration at Ikebana during the opening is free.

Place: Plovdiv Cultural Institute

On May 19, 2019 there will be two Ikebana workshops led by Eikou Sumura. The first workshop is from 10:00 to 12:00 and the second from 13:00 until 15:00. Participation is by preliminary purchase of tickets from Plovdiv Cultural Institute.
