The Bistrishkite Babi ensemble is joining the programme of Plovdiv 2019. The popular singers of authentic folklore from the village of Bistritsa, near Sofia, are performing at the Museum of Ethnography in Plovdiv.

Their performances in millennia-old two-voice singing were included on the Unesco list of intangible heritage in 2005.

A documentary photo exhibition (18 – 31 May 2019) accompanies the event, describing the group's activities, the methods the group uses to preserve the singing traditions, and how ancient knowledge gets passed on to the next generations.
