Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019 will present the new history of the city of Wrocław

In 2002, renowned British historians Norman Davies and Roger Moorhouse published a monograph on Wrocław, portraying the city as a place whose experience accumulates and reflects the fate of entire Central-European region if not Europe as a whole. The exhibition 'Wrocław Breaks the Iron Curtain' explores this notion, depicting the history of Wrocław against a broader historical background of the 20th century in Europe.

This exhibition is a project by the History Centre Zajezdnia in Wrocław, European Memory for the Past of the Europe for Citizens programme in partnership with the Polish Institute in Sofia. The exhibition in Plovdiv is associated with the programme of Plovdiv 2019.
