"Plovdiv 2019" welcomed 180 journalists from 32 countries

Journalists from all over the world chose Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture for the opening of their annual meeting. The official opening took place on February 25 (Sunday) at 19:00 with a procession of participants from the Central Square to the Roman Stadium, where the official start of the event was welcomed by representatives of the Plovdiv Municipality leadership and the President of the International Ski Club of Journalists SCIJ. It included representatives from the most influential media from more than 30 countries such as Agence France Presse, Corriere della Sera, BBC World Service, Financial Times, CNN International and others.

During their two-day visit, organized by the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, the journalists got to know more about the project "Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture" and visited cultural and historical landmarks in the city. The guests visited and attended meetings with local businesses representing the region.

The visit to Plovdiv occurred within the 65th World Ski Championship for Journalists, which will take place from February 25th to March 4th in Bulgaria. After Plovdiv, journalists traveled to the biggest Bulgarian ski resort Pamporovo, where they are going to continue their program.

The SCIJ Annual Meeting is held for the third time in Bulgaria after being in Vitosha in 1975 and in 2006 in Bansko.
