Limerick 2018 School of Spectacle
Limerick School of Spectacle is a free eight-day intensive outdoor arts training school for twenty-five local and international creative practitioners based in Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, Greece, and Lithuania. The school will deliver training designed to build skills that creatives need for making outdoor events and civic celebrations and will be held between 11th March 2018 and 18th March 2018 in Limerick. The Training venue is the Irish Aerial Creation Centre in Limerick.
The school will deliver core training in outdoor arts production for procession and co-creating with the community, alongside practical making techniques for 3D processional elements, props/costume and animating procession through movement and aerial. Throughout the week you will put the theory into practice, by working collaboratively to deliver elements for a real parade, Limericks St Patrick’s Day parade on 17th March 2018.
The open call for the Creative Practitioners was open until 19th February. The international group was selected by the partner organizations in Bulgaria, Lithuania, Ireland, Cyprus, and Greece. The working language of the school is English. All of the participants will share their artistic practice and will be supported by the local coordinators and international facilitators to learn and to create at the European Academy of Outdoor Arts.
The school is led by Walk the Plank in partnership with Plovdiv European Capital of Culture 2019 Foundation with international partners Pafos 2017, Cyprus; Bulgaria; Limerick City & County Council and Fidget Feet, Ireland; that together make up the European Outdoor Arts Academy.
