On November 1, National Awakening Day, the first font, inspired by the handwriting of the residents and guests of Plovdiv, will be officially presented.
The font is the outcome of the project ‘Plovdiv Typeface’, which collected over 3800 samples and analyzed the most characteristic handwriting habits of the Plovdiv residents. Apart from developing the font based on the curious results of the conveyed study, the designers from Typedepot and Studio Punkt worked further with the design providing other versions of the font, that are more functional for printing and any Plovdiv citizen could easily use it. The fonts are available for free download at plovdivtypeface.com.
The seven fonts part of the font family are: Plovdiv Script, Plovdiv Display Light, Plovdiv Display Regular, Plovdiv Display Bold, Plovdiv Sans and the funny Plovdiv Pictograms and Plovdiv Maina Mode. All fonts are Cyrillic and Latin Typefaces.
After November 15, you could also see an exhibition showing intriguingly the results of the research and the whole font project. As part of the exhibition, a chirography workshop will be held by Zhaklin Zhekova. The participants will become familiar with the principles of classical calligraphy and will be able to apply them in their own handwriting.
