The Secret Jewish Tour of Plovdiv has the ambition to present 2000 years of history in a fun, educational and interactive way. The tour aims to draw out the secrets and mysteries of the city and to expand the city's usual tour with real and living stories told by people. The goal is to make every participant feel as part of the experience of the story.

The tour seeks the little details that make the city's puzzle a complete one. The Jewish community is an important part of the multicultural puzzle of our city. The project promotes Plovdiv as a city of unity and tolerance, improves the understanding of the Jewish community and its place in the city, strengthens the relationship between Israeli and Bulgarian society.

The Jewish community in Plovdiv has a long history that includes different cultural aspects, morals and values. The Ancient Synagogue of the Roman period, the Monument of gratitude and the Zion Synagogue form the familiar face of the community. On the other hand, there is a hidden and forgotten side related to narrations, personal stories, experiences and feelings of contemporaries of that time. The goal is for the participants to go back in time before the creation of Israel.

The project is associated with the programme of Plovdiv 2019 and is implemented by the Plovdiv synagogue.
