Anime & Gaming Festival was held for the first time in Plovdiv on June 22, 2019, at the International Fair Plovdiv as part of the official program of Plovdiv 2019 and the EU JAPAN FEST.

In 2024, the festival will return to the original format of the event through the development of 7 gaming zones and a new attractive location.

The planned areas and attractions will include:

• A stage with a program during the two days of the event – lectures, demonstrations, meetings with guests and celebrities, and screenings of Japanese animation. The event highlights are the Cosplay Contest with prizes and the K-ror Show.
• Gaming area with venues for tournaments and free play, as well as Retro Gaming
• Traditional Japanese area, including exhibitions and workshops of various Japanese contemporary and traditional arts.
• Kimono dressing area
• Photo corner with a professional photographer
• Merch area with Japan-related merchandise stalls, Japanese comic drawing demonstrations, theme and information corners
• Comics reading room
• Area for meeting guests of the event

The project is a Nakama Association production and is part of the Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture programme.
