Adata AiR Resident Programme - Meetings with the Artists # 10
ADATA AiR is an artist-in-residence programme in the city of Plovdiv. The residency aims to give a space for a creative exchange that fosters intercultural dialogue and interaction. The platform is open to artists, architects, designers, etc., from Europe to join the special pre-capital-of-culture stage. During their stay, the residents will have the opportunity to develop new projects and interact with local communities and the complex cultural realities of the city.
The artists are visiting Plovdiv in 2018 to work on their own artistic projects related to topics concerning nature and architectural cultural heritage in Plovdiv.
17:00 – Workshop with Adela Prochazkova (Czech Republic),
18:00 – Discussion with Serge Ecker (Luxembourg),
19:00 – Concert, followed by a workshop by ANTEZ (France).
Adela Prochazkova will extract sounds from the paved street in front of the building with the help of
household tools. She, together with the participants, will recreate the noise of steps on the stone
pavement into notes, so that the music of the city can be heard, the music Plovdiv’s citizens create
themselves. For more information regarding the workshop and the author’s research in this field can be
found in the article noiseandsilencemagazine, published by her.
Serge Ecker will discuss his idea of a raft on the Maritza river with the citizens of the city. Serge wants to
implement his research project by creating a floating stage out of waste materials. The Luxembourg artist will also present an exhibition of the takes he shot during his two-week stay in Plovdiv. More
information on the author can be found at: www.sergeecker.com
The tenth consecutive creative meeting will be concluded with a concert of the French acoustic
avantgardist ANTEZ and the active participation of the audience. ANTEZ creates music by using whatever
is available at the moment and unusual objects. His concerts are characterized by utilizing the resonance
of the premises, in which he creates music and the forming of subsequent sound pictures mixed with
the movements of the body. You can follow ANTEZ’s work here – www.antez.org
ADATA AiR is realized by Plovdiv 2019 Foundation in partnership with Goethe-Institut Bulgarien and the Polish Institute in Sofia (Instytut Polski w Sofii).
