Adata AiR Resident Programme - Meetings with the Artists # 12
ADATA AiR is an artist-in-residence programme in the city of Plovdiv. The residency aims to give a space for a creative exchange that fosters intercultural dialogue and interaction. The platform is open to artists, architects, designers, etc., from Europe to join the special pre-capital-of-culture stage. During their stay, the residents will have the opportunity to develop new projects and interact with local communities and the complex cultural realities of the city.
The artists are visiting Plovdiv in 2018 to work on their own artistic projects related to topics concerning nature and architectural cultural heritage in Plovdiv.
Murals of the Past - Murals of the Future
On 1 November 2018, at 19:00, at SKLAD, a meeting # 12 with the currently working in Plovdiv Adata artist-in-residence Jens Besser and Stefan Schwarzer will be held. For over 10 years Jens Besser and Stefan Schwarzer work together in the field of muralism and multi disciplinary art. Both started to work as street artists in the 90s and early 2000s. For their artistic work they combine drawing, projection, interaction and performance on public walls and spaces.
In Plovdiv Besser and Schwarzer researched on socialist murals and monuments. On the one hand they found numerous public murals and cast stones. On the other hand they found original sketches of realized murals in the public library Ivan Vazov.
For their presentation of the residency proposal the artists start a public tour with their projection car in public space and will end up at Plovdiv 2019 Foundation to describe more detailed their work in Plovdiv and ideas for their proposal.

ADATA AiR is realized by Plovdiv 2019 Foundation in partnership with Goethe-Institut Bulgarien and the Polish Institute in Sofia (Instytut Polski w Sofii). Details at ADATA AiR's facebook page.
