Adata AiR Resident Programme - Meetings with the Artists #13

ADATA AiR is an artist-in-residence programme in the city of Plovdiv. The residency aims to give a space for a creative exchange that fosters intercultural dialogue and interaction. The platform is open to artists, architects, designers, etc., from Europe to join the special pre-capital-of-culture stage. During their stay, the residents will have the opportunity to develop new projects and interact with local communities and the complex cultural realities of the city.

The artists are visiting Plovdiv in 2018 to work on their own artistic projects related to topics concerning nature and architectural cultural heritage in Plovdiv.

Meeting #13

Welcome this Thursdays, 8 Nov., at 6 pm to Comma - located on 18 "Zagreb" str. - in the Kapana Creative District. There we meet Isabel Flores who will give a brief introductory talk toward her work practice and proposal to be realized in Plovdiv ECoC 2019, based on participatory approach with stidents from the Arts High School in the city.

Isabel Flores is a Spanish artists who works in the media of painting and installation. In her artwork she studies the use of ornaments in contemporary painting creating a relation between the object, the architectural space, geometry and ornament, referring to a comparison between cultural and ornamental evolution, producing works that have a historical as well as a personal resonance. During her stay in Plovdiv for the ADATA AiR she developed a research on the use of some characteristic ornaments in the city and how the different epoch influences one to each other and its relation to Plovdiv inhabitants environment. In her presentation she will deeply present the results of her residency stay.
