Adata AiR Resident Programme - Meeting # 16
ADATA AiR is an artist-in-residence programme in the city of Plovdiv. The residency aims to give a space for a creative exchange that fosters intercultural dialogue and interaction. The platform is open to artists, architects, designers, etc., from Europe to join the special pre-capital-of-culture stage. During their stay, the residents will have the opportunity to develop new projects and interact with local communities and the complex cultural realities of the city.
The artists are visiting Plovdiv in 2018 to work on their own artistic projects related to topics concerning nature and architectural cultural heritage in Plovdiv.
A sound walk around Plovdiv with the Monolugue of Matěj Frank
On Thursday afternoon, we invite you on a sound walk around Plovdiv with the Monolugue of Matěj Frank. Monologue is a listening device for amplyfiinf the small, humble sounds of wide surrounding. The diverse soundscape is concentrated to one point and the sculpture offers the possibility to listen of the details of our surrounding.
On Thursday November 15th, the sculpture will be placed next to the bridge of Tsar Boris III Obedinitel Bld. and across Maritsa Bld. №122 (on the platform at the river bank). At 15:00 h it will let us to listen to the sounds of the river. It will happen with the presence of the artist, who will introduce the audience to his work.
Matěj Frank is a visual artist currently based in Wrocław, Poland and Opava, Czech Republic. In his work he deals with a space in relation to time, motion, body and sound. Although the base of his work lays in sculpture, he moves across different media, such as performance, drawing or sound art. Frank usually focuses on basic phenomena, processes it with his own sensitivity and then re-creates and re-presents it through own perspective. He finds the closest surrounding and its constant change as a main source for his work.
As a member of the cultural association Bludný kámen, Frank organizes exhibitions of contemporary art and experimental music concerts. Currently, he teaches at the Sculpture department at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw. He participates in numerous national and international projects and exhibitions.

ROUTE of the sound walk
Start - 3:00 pm at the river bank of Maritsa (122 Maritsa Bld.)
Through Kapana district, the pedestrian street, and Ivan Vazov str.
End - 6:00 pm at SKLAD (16 Ekzarh Yosif Str) - the cultural hub of Plovdid ECoC 2019.
