European Short Pitch 2019 – Masterclass With Wim Vanacker (20.04.2019)

European Short Pitch 2019 (ESP) is an international training forum and one of the most important event for production and development of short films in Europe. Within the 13th edition of the ESP in Sofia (7th - 13th January 2019) and Plovdiv (20 – 21 April 2019, Lucky House of Cinema), sixteen promising projects of young and talented teams from all over Europe, including two Bulgarian teams, are taking part. The programme includes master classes, screenings, discussions, meetings and pitching sessions!

ESP 2019 in Plovdiv (20 – 21 April 2019)

Within 13th edition of the ESP In Plovdiv (20 – 21 April 2019, Lucky House of Cinema) numerous master classes will be held, led by lecturers with rich professional experience – Wim Vanacker (Belgium) and Jerôme Nunes (France), as well as discussions and screenings of short films, produced by the European Network for Young Cinema ‘NISI MASA’.

What is success and what is a successful short film? A very personal endeavor that can only have a very subjective answer. How does one define success in the first place? Matters we’ll delve in deeper and questions we’ll try to tackle while trying to keep the bigger picture, personal desires and the industry in mind. There will be also discussions and screening of short movies.

WHO IS WIM VANACKER: After studying psychology in Belgium, he moved to Dublin to work as a psychologist in the field of drug addiction. Three years later, he picked up studying again at EICAR where he made two shorts : Endgame and The Naked leading the Blind. After graduating, he discovered NISI MASA – European Network of Young Cinema where he became the Head of the Script Department and the Manager of European Short Pitch. He founded Sireal Films where he produced the VAF funded short film empire. Furthermore, he’s a member of the Selection Committee for the Official Short Film Competition of the Cannes Film Festival and he works as a script consultant, creative adviser, tutor and guest speaker for many film festivals and projects in development. As a writer/director, he’s currently developing the short films [ˈsɪə.ri.əl ] and Psycho Revisited.


The project is implemented by the ‘Arte Urbana Collectif’ Association together with the European network ‘NISI MASA’.
