Plovdiv 2019 presents the Green Culture - Green City program
17 new outdoor events in all areas of Plovdiv

The foundation invested BGN 200,000 for the Green Culture - Green City program, to which the expert jury chose 17 outdoor events from a total of 34 project proposals received.

The supported project proposals are implemented in the city's parks, and the hills, as well as on open scenes and public spaces in the city's neighborhoods, and aim to raise sensitivity and awareness of contemporary cultural and environmental issues, and to improve the relationship between communities, city, and nature.

Events include special programs for children, urban games, exhibitions and installations in an urban environment, music, and theater. Among the approved candidates, the project of the Academy of Music, Dance, and Fine Arts 'Prof. Asen Diamandiev' with a series of events in the Old Town has the highest evaluation. Other distinguished projects are the Plovdiv Photographic Center with a special photography workshop, the Bulgarian Kennel Club with the Dog Fest, the creators of Maina Town with RE: BAZAAR, TEDx Plovdiv, 'Hand' theater, and the designer game book of Studio Punkt.

Among the "green spaces" for the realization of the events, the chosen locations are Bunardjika Hill, Mladezhki Hill, the Old Town, the City Garden, Tsar Simeon's Garden, Lauta Park and open spaces in the Trakia district, Maritsa River, Bratska Mogila, the newly built park of Peshtersko Shosse (former Garrison Furna) and "Izgrev" Park in the Iztochen district.

A guiding principle in the commission's work was the enrichment of the cultural calendar in Plovdiv with contemporary productions, events, and artistic actions, which are carried out with responsibility towards the urban environment, and natural and cultural heritage and resources. The priority was conceptual proposals to stimulate communication between citizens, cooperation between organizations and local administration, and attract new audiences to the city's ecosystem.
