In 2019 the world celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, one of the world's most influential schools in the fields of architecture, painting and design. To mark the event in Bulgaria, Goethe-Institut, the German state organisation for promoting German culture around the world, is offering a programme of film screenings, lectures, workshops and city tours.
The Plovdiv programme includes a lecture on the Bauhaus influence across the city and a thematic tour with Teodor Karakolev and Vasil Makarinov from Bulgarian Architectural Modernism, a foundation which specialises in the study of architectural examples of modernism in Bulgaria from the 1920s, '30s and '40s.
