International Youth Festival of Watercolour Plovdiv 2019

Platform Transform

Cluster River of Imagination

In support of talent and as an opportunity for young Bulgarian watercolour artists and international artists to showcase their work in 2019, the first edition of the International Youth Festival of Watercolour will be part of the Plovdiv ECOC 2019 programme. The festival (20 June - 31 July 2019) is held every three years, immediately after International Triennial ‘The Spirit of Aquarelle’ in Varna.

The first edition includes four exhibitions, each of a different duration, which will be staged between 20 June and 31 July 2019.

An international panel of judges (Atanur Dogan, Canada; Anna Massinissa, Italy; Amit Kapoor, India; Helidon Halitti, Albania; Tere Lojero, Mexico; and Krasi Todorov, Bulgaria) will select some 120 works by artists grouped in two age categories. In Plovdiv, the results of this selection will be put on display at:

Arsenal of Art (Kapana, 4 Magura Str) from 6 to 16 July 2019. The venue will be hosting works from artists aged under 21.
The premises of the Mexican Аrt Permanent Exhibition of the Plovdiv City Art Gallery from 6 to 31 July 2019. The venue will be hosting the works of watercolour artists aged from 21 to 35 from around the world.

The festival programme includes also:

A solo exhibition of the festival's curator, Selma Todorova, at the Signa Gallery (20 June–10 July 2019)
An exhibitions with selected works from the plein-air sessions and the demonstrations at the Mexican Аrt Permanent Exhibition (Opening on 8 July).

There are demonstrations of waterclolour artists — recognised masters as well as talented young people; plein-air sessions; and collective painting of long watercolour in the period 6-8 July 2019. Free admittance to all exhibitions and activities.
