The tour will deal with "myth", according to which artists are devoid of intelligence, artworks are self-evident, and to understand art you do not need prior knowledge. This "myth" also claims that (contemporary) artists and their works are too far removed from life - so why should we "listen to them"? Why ...?
By using references to the city, the country and the world as a whole (sometimes with the help of tools), the tour will embrace the idea that artists and audiences approach art from the same "place" - artists live in the same world (before and after work in the atelier) in which the audience lives (before and after the time spent in the exhibition). The exhibition is just another kind of shared interface between people and the world, like the city or the media.

The exhibition takes place at the:
SKLAD (16 Ekzarh Yosif Str.)
The City Art Gallery
Balabanov House
Hindlyan House
Zlato Boyadzhiev Gallery

LISTEN TO US is an invitation to listen to the works. Their sensual presence and intelligence are telling a lot about our common reality and encourage our own reflection.
Additionally, beside the works from the Art Collection Telekom, a few newly commissioned artworks by Bulgarian artists and some works of the recent history of contemporary art in Bulgaria will be integrated in the exhibition.
The project is accompanied by its own educational and mediation programme, reaching out to the general public, kids and schoolkids and elderly people. Starting in autumn 2018, first workshops establish practical training experiences for students and curators to mediate content and storylines of the works in the exhibition.
The project is curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher. Coordinator is Dimitrina Petrova.
