Students from the Bulgarian schools in Alexandropoulos (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey), Mikulčice and Prague (Czech Republic), Zalavar and Budapest (Hungary) and Rome (Italy) retell in pictures the lives and work of the inventors of the Slavic alphabet, the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius.
The children's works, featuring Glagolitic and Cyrillic symbols and portraits of the Thessaloniki-born brothers, will be put on display at exhibitions in many Bulgarian schools. The best pieces, selected by a judging panel, will arrive in Plovdiv to be printed on textile canvases and take part in a joint exhibition in Plovdiv and at Bulgarian centres of culture around the world.
A short film has captured all the stages of the project as well as the children's participation. The selected works have been documented in a specially designed bilingual, alphabetically arranged album prefaced by an introduction to the lives and work of the Thessaloniki-born brothers. The edition will be donated to Bulgarian schools abroad.
