Forum 2019. Focus: RoUM Plovdiv

RoUM is a creative and entrepreneurial way of recycling useless objects and transforming them to new artistic products, made by Croatian artistic team Tamara Puhovski, Siniša Senad Musić, Jagoda Novak and Milan Mitrović.

As part of the educational forum 2019, students and teachers from Stolipinovo and Sheker Mahala districts in Plovdiv and the Croatian artists will take part in creating design, marketing concepts and creating different objects connected to the global idea of zero waste.

In Plovdiv, RoUm takes the form of three-day trainings led by Jagoda Novak and the masters of metalworking and woodworking - Milan Mitrovic and Muhamed Husejni. Hosts are two schools 'Panayot Volov' in Sheker Mahala and 'Nayden Gerov' school in Stolipinovo, along with their teachers and students from their professional classes. Some of the teams are also amateurs and artists who contribute to the development of individual and group ideas.

The final results as well as individual artistic ideas will be will be presented on 8.10.2019 at 18:00 in Kapana - creative district in PLOVEDIV Gallery, 3 Pavel Kurtevich Street.

The Forum is led by:

Muhamed Husejni, Mux
Born in 1996. Roma from Croatia, Zagreb. Professional background - carpenter, but works for the delivery service. A gifted artist in wood and plastic, talented for video art and author of a vlog. Mux has extremely developed social skills, communicative and proud of his Roma origin. In RoUm from 2018. Handsome.

Jagoda Novak,
Born in 1975 in Rijeka, Cristis 15 years of experience in Roma integration, in theory and practice. PhD in Roma integration policies. One of the best connoisseurs of the Roma civil society in Croatia and Europe. Project manager and gifted writer of short stories. In RoUm from its beginnings in 2O17. Pole dancer.

Milan Mitrovic
Born in 1987 in Slavonski Brod, Croatia. Prominent Roma activist of the younger generation. Trough Roum discovered its artistic talents. Respected in the community. In Roum since its beginnings. Gifted in methal and welding techniques. Role model, model, and fisherman.

In „Panayot Volov“ Elementary school the team includes:

Irene Kukusheva - Born in Plovdiv, where she completed her secondary education in high school and specialized in "Construction and Architecture". She worked as a construction technician for several years. In 1990 she graduated with a degree in Primary School Pedagogy. Since 1991 to this day / with a short break / has worked as a primary school teacher. Her interests are diverse - nature and its conservation, animal care and protection, culture and art. Hobbies: painting and applied arts, the handicraft of various objects and clothing.

Three graduates of Panayot Volov Elementary school are eighth graders in Vocation school in leather goods and textiles "Dr. Ivan Bogorov" - Tasko Yordanov, Boyan Mihaylov, Eleonora Mehmedova.

Lyubomir Proichev is 20 years old and lives in Plovdiv. He is a student at the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, studying Informatics. He does not study anything directly related to drawing or design, although he has attended children's drawing schools. However, to this day he is involved in drawing in different styles (digital and paper). So far, he has not been a professional artist, although he is currently working on a project of a drawing for a bar in the centre of Plovdiv. He has never worked in sculpture, but believes that this will be a new challenge for his creative sense, says he is happy about the opportunity to participate in this project.

At the Nayden Gerov Middle school, the team includes: Dimka Reshetkova, a teacher of 25 years with technical education and a master's degree in engineering; three students from grade 9 - Dimo Dimitrov, Lyubomir Mitov, Yanko Shishkov, and Hannah Rose - a socially engaged artist and organizer of art workshops.

Hannah Rose - Hannah Rose is a socially engaged artist based between the UK and Bulgaria. In her work, she strives to develop empowering spaces of closeness where creativity and self-expression can take place. Born in 1990 in Newcastle, UK, Hannah studied screen printing and community art with Claire Sato. Since 2011, she has been involved with participatory arts: co-organizer of traveling cinema, organizes creative and language exchange activities for migrants, and runs open workshops at Glasgow Women's Library and Edinburgh Printmakers. He has specializations in lithography, manual paper casting and art therapy. Her designs and exhibitions are featured in Glasgow Open House (Glasgow), Format Gallery (Newcastle), The Star and Shadow (Newcastle), Tour et Taxis (Brussels), Peace Paper Studio (Hamburg), Otsreshta (Plovdiv), Artnewscafe (Plovdiv).
