Secrets of the Tsar-Simeon Garden - the green heart of Plovdiv

Within the project "Secrets of the Tsar-Simeon's Garden - the Green Heart of Plovdiv" several educational expeditions will be held, aimed at children in the last preparatory group of kindergartens and students in the 1st - 4th grade (with the kind support of the Aleko Konstantinov Primary School and the Magic Treehouse Preschool).

At the end of September and the beginning of October (on 27.09, 04.10, 11.10 and 18.10.2024) in the Tsar-Simeon's Garden in Plovdiv will be held walking games on two different routes. In the form of exciting games (treasure hunt, decrypting a secret code, searching for monuments and objects on a map), children will learn about the history of the garden and its landmarks, as well as interesting plant species and the necessary care for their conservation.

Route 1: Viennese Pavilion → Dimitar Kudoglu monument → G. С. Rakovski monument → Demetra Fountain → Lucien Chevalas monument → the pond with the fish → Vasil Petleshkov monument → Naiden Gerov monument. Within the route the children will get acquainted with the following plant species: black pine, cedar, walnut tree, oak, beech, yew, white fir, Himalayan cedar, Norway spruce, etc. The Viennese Pavilion serves as a kind of divider of the garden into eastern and western parts for both routes. In one of the routes, the children have to collect certain letters hidden at different sites, then use the letters to guess where a hidden treasure awaits them. The young participants reach each letter only after solving a riddle.

Route 2: The lake with the bear → Momotaro statue → Dusho Hadjidekov monument → children statue → singing fountains → deer statue → Anton Bezenshek monument → the fountain with the choir → Hristo Botev monument → Viennese pavilion. As a part of this route will be presented ginkgo tree, Japanese sycamore, weeping willow, sycamore, common horse chestnut, Norway maple, holly. In this route, children collect pieces of a map that marks the location of a long-buried treasure. Children find each piece of the map after solving a given problem. As well as developing their resourcefulness, observation and teamwork, the children also learn how to use a map and compass in real-life situations, and how to care for nature.

A special detailed map of the Tsar-Simeon Garden will be developed for the games, as well as a short guide with photos and information about the sites located in the garden. Maps and instructions will be prepared for the different games . As rewards for all participants, gift packages with children's books and information materials will be prepared.
