Chimera
7 Teams, 7 Films, 7 Master Classes
The teams of seven Bulgarian contemporary film directors will create seven short films inspired by and dedicated to Plovdiv. They are all part of the "KINOPLOVDIV" project, a highlight in the programme of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture. When finished, the seven works will be pieced together into a feature-length film omnibus, which will be premiered in March 2019. In 2018 a series of master classes, workshop discussions and meetings with audiences unveiled fascinating details of the art of filmmaking.
"Chimera"
The first short film that's now a fact is "Chimera" (so far a working title) by the director Pavel G. Vesnakov (among his works are "Stolen Life", "Father's Day", "Honour", "Zeus" and "The Paraffin Prince"). The film offers an intriguing plot: A driver discovers a mythical creature in the backyard of the apartment block he lives in. Finding the police unresponsive, he has no other recourse but to turn to God. The film stars Georgi Ivanov, Yoana Bukovska-Davidova, Daniel Rashev and Ivan Paskov. Camera work is in the hands of Orlin Gruevski.
