LISTEN TO US – ARTISTIC INTELLIGENCE
(Works from Art Collection Telekom)
Plovdiv 2019 presents Deutsche Telekom’s prestigious collection of contemporary art for the first time in Bulgaria. The project is curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher. Dimitrina Petrova is coordinator.
The Art Collection Telekom was initiated in 2010 with a clear focus on the cultural area of Eastern and South Eastern Europe. In response to the social and political changes that followed the fall of the Berlin Wall, the artworks in the exhibition are an invitation to an open dialogue. They contribute to a better understanding of Europe’s cultural diversity as manifested in the visual arts of today.
LISTEN TO US – ARTISTIC INTELLIGENCE (4 April - 20 June 2019)
The exhibition will be presented at different venues. In some of the houses in the Old Town subtle interventions with contemporary art are creating a balance of current artistic positions with the historical environment of the buildings. The City Art Gallery and SKLAD, the former tobacco warehouse, will present exhibitions that show that, despite all cultural and national differences, artists communicate with one common language.
Opening on 4 April 2019, 19:00, at City Art Gallery Plovdiv (15 Alexander I Battenberg Str.).
The exhibition takes place at the:
SKLAD (16 Ekzarh Yosif Str.)

LISTEN TO US is an invitation to listen to the works. Their sensual presence and intelligence are telling a lot about our common reality and encourage our own reflection.
Additionally, beside the works from the Art Collection Telekom, a few newly commissioned artworks by Bulgarian artists and some works of the recent history of contemporary art in Bulgaria will be integrated in the exhibition.
The project is accompanied by its own educational and mediation programme, reaching out to the general public, kids and schoolkids and elderly people. Starting in autumn 2018, first workshops establish practical training experiences for students and curators to mediate content and storylines of the works in the exhibition.
The project is curated by Nathalie Hoyos and Rainald Schumacher. Coordinator is Dimitrina Petrova.
